Good news for quilters, knitters, crafters, and anyone who sews: the 5th biennial “Threads of Hope” FABRIC, YARN and NOTIONS sale will take place on Saturday, October 23, from 9 am to 3pm in St. Marys United Church hall. Mark your calendars now!
“Threads of Hope” is a fundraiser for the Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign of the Stephen Lewis Foundation ( The sale will raise funds and awareness for the work of our 125+ community-based partners in 13 countries in sub-Saharan Africa who are working to alleviate the health and social problems exacerbated by the double pandemic of Covid-19 and HIV/AIDS. Since Covid began there has been a rise in gender based violence, mental unwellness, and poverty. As in other locations, resources have been stretched thin and workers are exhausted, but they remain dedicated, resilient and hopeful.
This popular sale is a great opportunity to get bargains on fabric, yarn and notions for your winter projects and to donate similar items taking up space at home.
Three ways to make donations to the sale:
- Bring to St. Marys United Church hall on Saturday morning, Oct. 16, or Wednesday morning, October 20, from 9 am to noon.
- Drop off at Hyggeligt Fabrics (519 284 1508) at 144 Queen St., St. Marys anytime between October 11-15.
