It's been a long, winding road back to the ice for the St. Marys Lincolns, and right before they take the ice for the first game of the season this Friday, that journey will be chronicled by St. Marys Radio.
At 7:00 p.m., go to stmarysradio.com for the St. Marys Lincolns Return-To-Play Special. This program will look back on the successful 2019-20 Lincolns season and their return to the playoffs after eight years before the season was ended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Lincolns' final game before the shutdown was March 12th, 2020, when they visited the Leamington Flyers for the first game of their Western Conference semi-final series. However, during that game, it was announced that all events sanctioned by Hockey Canada, including the GOJHL playoffs, were suspended. Later that evening, while on the way back from Leamington, an update was provided that the post-season wasn't just suspended, it was cancelled altogether.
Over the next 561 days, a lot would happen both in the sports world and the real world. Tragedy and sorrow both here in our community and on a national and global scale seemed never-ending at certain points. But embedded in the darkest of times were moments of hope and incredible people who pulled us through the worst moments.
Those 561 days have all led here, to this moment, where the Lincolns can simultaneously close the book on one story while beginning the first chapter of their next story. It's both the perfect conclusion and the perfect beginning, and St. Marys Radio will cover it this Friday, September 24th, at 7:00 p.m., only at stmarysradio.com.
