KINGSTON - The Athletics Ontario provincial cross-country championships were held here on Sunday, Nov. 14. Several Salukis made the long drive to test themselves against the foremost runners in Ontario.
Starting with the U14 boys, Kaleb Dingman and Abe Bender tackled the freezing temperatures and muddy course. Dingman ran a great race, powering to a 14th-place finish against the best in the province. Bender, running against boys a year older, also ran well -- finishing with a 44th-place finish in a stacked field.
Three secondary Salukis also measured their skills at the provincials. Charlotte Clinton and Bailey Ross competed in the U16 girls division, and Ezra Bender competed in the U18 group.
Clinton and Ross both ran well, battling the cold and windy conditions to cross the finish line in 42nd and 70th spots, respectively. Bender, meanwhile, posted a 76th-place finish, against runners who were mostly a year older than him.
