The highly-anticipated major addition to the St. Marys Quarry was installed last week, which was no small feat!
Starting June 25, visitors will be able to climb, jump, swing, bounce and slide their way through the Super Splash inflatable obstacle course. Dubbed the "ultimate playground," this inflatable for ages six and older will include a 14-foot-tall Ice Tower for free climbing and a 12-foot-tall giant slide.
The initial piece of the installation required a helicopter to lower concrete blocks into the water. These blocks were then fastened to the inflatable sections to hold them in place. Great Lakes Helicopter Corporation handled this part of the project, and General Manager and St. Marys-resident Dwayne Henderson told the Independent that things ran smoothly.
“Thanks to our internal planning process and the organization by the Fire Chief,” Henderson said. “The project went as planned. The involvement with the Fire Department, Police, and Town of St. Marys made this project uneventful, which is what we strive for in all our helicopter operations.”
SuperSplash was started in 2017 by Patrick Jackson and his wife after seeing a similar attraction in Kelowna, British Columbia. The first waterpark was created in Hamilton and Jackson said they had people coming from as far away as London, Kitchener, and Sarnia. This prompted SuperSplash to expand its footprint, with Jackson telling Global News London that the St. Marys Quarry was “the only place where we can do something like this in Southwestern Ontario."
How to visit
Visitors must pre-register online for both the Quarry and the Super Splash Waterpark through two different websites. First, they'll need to book and pay for one or more swim times at www.townofstmarys.com/quarry. Second, they'll need to visit supersplashstmarys.ca to book and pay for their time on the inflatable.
Quarry hours are split into two swim times: 11:00 to 3:00 p.m. and 3:15 to 7:30 p.m. Admission rates are $7 for adults and $4.50 for youth per swim time.
Super Splash Waterpark admission is $25 per person for two hours or $20 per person for an evening pass.
