In a U10 mini-league ringette game Dec. 15 at the PRC, St. Marys Green skated to a high-scoring 9-7 win over St. Marys Blue.
The Green squad built a 6-3 half-time lead.
Lily Murphy, Mary McCutcheon, Lillian Johnston and Isabella Fluttert each netted a pair of goals to pace the Green offence. Lily Forbes contributed a goal and an assist, and Meredith Stokes two assists.
Isla Ritchie was the big shooter for Blue with four goals and one assist, while Rylee Cunningham clicked for two goals and two assists.
Two wins against Mitchell
Both the U10 Green and Blue squads were also in action on Dec. 8 on home ice.
Sparked by Mary McCutcheon’s four goals, the Green team defeated the Mitchell Stingers 9-2. Lily Murphy and Isabella Fluttert both chipped in two goals and one assist, while Lillian Garniss also scored for the Snipers.
Jordyn Schellenberger scored both Mitchell goals. The Snipers led 4-2 after the first half, and then broke it open with five unanswered tallies in the second half.
The U10 Blue team also defeated their Mitchell counterparts as Isla Ritchie scored three times, including the winner, in a 9-7 victory.
Ainsley King added two St. Marys goals, while the singles came off the sticks of Kyla Graham, Amara Grant, Peyton Van Straaten and Brenna Bearss. The Bearss goal came on a penalty shot.
Alyssa DeWitt had three goals and Scarlett Gloor two more for the visiting Stingers, who trailed 5-4 at the halfway mark.
Games from Dec. 6
In a high-scoring game on Dec. 6 at the PRC, the St. Marys U14 Green team nipped the Stingers from Mitchell 10-9.
Pacing the Snipers’ attack were Abby Martin and Payton Blight, each with two goals and two assists. Charlie Henderson and Kylie Robertson added two goals and one assist apiece, while Cami Lobb and Leah Van Straaten netted the singles.
Regulation time ended with St. Marys leading 9-8. Both teams then scored penalty-shot goals. Van Straaten’s goal proved to be the difference on the scoreboard.
Ella Brodhagen collected four goals for the visiting Stingers, including a penalty-shot tally.
In another game on Dec. 6, the St. Marys U16 Blue team dropped a 7-3 decision to their counterparts from Exeter-Seaforth.
The visiting Explosion built a 4-2 advantage by the halfway mark. Abby Winja powered Exeter-Seaforth with four goals, while Emily Smale was a threat with two goals and three assists.
Scoring for the Snipers were Olive Aarts, Jorja Linton and Kailey McRoberts.
