Hayes nets hat trick in U19 Green ringette victory over Mitchell Stingers Sunday

It was a high-scoring affair Sunday morning at the PRC when St. Marys Green met St. Marys Blue in a U14 ringette game.
Green fell behind early, but charged back to claim an 11-7 mini-league win.
Blue jumped out to a 3-0 advantage, but Green quickly tied it 3-3 as the goals came fast and furious. At the end of the first half, Blue owned a 7-5 lead.
It was all Green in the second half as three consecutive goals by Payton Blight put her team ahead to stay. At the end of regulation time, Green was ahead 9-7 on the scoreboard and then tacked on two penalty-shot goals.
Blight, who was a threat every time she was on the ice, finished the contest with four goals and one assist. Abby Martin was another offensive force with three goals and one assist, while Leah Van Straaten clicked for one goal and three assists.
The other singles for Green came off the sticks of Charlee Henderson, Cammie Lobb and Erin Sterkenburg. Van Straaten and Sterkenburg scored on post-game penalty shots.
Billie Sedley paced the Blue attack with three goals, while Avery Jennings had two goals and one assist. Supplying the singles were Leah Hachler and Adrianna Hollestelle-Black, with Natalie Taylor and Jasmine Powell contributing two assists apiece.
Hayes nets hat trick
In a U19 game Sunday morning, three goals from Mackayla Hayes sparked the St. Marys Green team to a come-from-behind 6-5 victory over the visiting Mitchell Stingers.
The Snipers trailed 3-2 at the half-time break.
Halley Robertson added a pair of goals–both in the second half–while Jill Unich had the single. Emily McCurdy helped out with two assists, while Lilianna Smith, Sarah Lynch and Alison Goldsworthy earned single assists.
U12 Blue nipped 4-3
In a mini-league game Nov. 17 at the PRC, the St. Marys U12 Blue team dropped a 4-3 decision to Mitchell Stingers.
The Stingers opened up a 2-0 lead early in the first half. Tayla Paulin connected for the Snipers on a penalty shot during the half-time break.
After Mitchell went up 3-1 early in the second half, Paulin scored again from Leighton Lichti to pull St. Marys to within a goal. Snipers’ goalie Carlie Muir, who played well throughout, stopped a last-minute breakaway. Regulation time ended with Stingers up 3-2.
Both sides were awarded one penalty shot, and both players found the back of the net — leaving Mitchell up by a goal. Lily Hollestelle-Black scored for St. Marys.
Balanced scoring attack
In a mini-league game Nov. 14 in Mitchell, the St. Marys U-19 Green team got a balanced scoring attack in a 6-3 win over the home-town Stingers.
Scoring for the Snipers were Lili Smith, Kaitie Gratton, Jill Cunningham, Regan Frayne, Mackayla Hayes and Alison Goldsworthy. Frayne’s goal came on a penalty shot.
In a U10 game at the PRC on Nov. 8, the St. Marys Blue team outlasted the visiting Mitchell squad 11-8.
Isla Ritchie was the big shooter for the Snipers with five goals, including four consecutive tallies for her team. Peyton Van Straaten and Kyla Graham both added hat tricks for the home side. Van Straaten also picked up two assists for a five-point game. Brenna Bearss chipped in a pair of assists for the Snipers.
Scarlett Gloor collected four goals for Mitchell.
