Members deliver treats to local veterans
Like so many other days of commemoration and holidays, Remembrance Day was very different this year. Different can be good, however, as the St. Marys firefighters found a special way to make sure our veterans were not forgotten.
During the evening of November 11, 25 volunteer firefighters hand-delivered 24 boxes of chocolates to local veterans. Fifteen boxes of chocolates were also delivered to the Legion for members to enjoy.
“Firefighters wanted to recognize the significant contributions of our veterans while ensuring our most vulnerable citizens remained safe,” said Town of St. Marys Fire Chief Richard “Andy” Anderson.
Anderson adds: “Our firefighters are committed to assisting the entire community and we understand that the past few months have been very challenging for many people.”
While the way of honouring those who have served may have evolved, the intention remains the same: remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice for a better world.
The firefighters would also like to thank their partners for their contributions and generosity in making the deliveries a success: StrongArm Design, Cascades and The Chocolate Factory.
