The Town of St. Marys is developing a graduation bundle for recent graduates of St. Marys DCVI. The purpose of this project is to inform students of opportunities in St. Marys that may be available to them after they complete post-secondary education. We want students to feel involved in the community and support their transition out of high school.
The bundles will include a personalized graduation card from the Mayor and a newsletter from the Town of St. Marys. We are working with DCVI to determine the safest way to distribute these bundles, as they are still unsure about what this year’s commencement ceremony will look like. However; they are sticking with their annual date of the Friday before Thanksgiving weekend.
We are seeking contributions from local businesses to add to our bundles, including:
· Newsletters explaining the different employment opportunities available within your business, including the needed qualifications, desired skill set and job descriptions for each unique department or role. Students often only see the service level of a business and are unaware of the different careers available, like management, Human Resources and marketing. We want to give students an idea of the wide range of careers available when they potentially return to St. Marys or the surrounding area.
· Donations, coupons or special offers for your business to build awareness among students of the places they can shop or dine locally when/if they return to St. Marys. We want to bring traffic and customers to stores from this age group as they are not always the target consumer of small, rural businesses.
We will take care of the whole distribution process including making copies for all graduates, arranging the bundles and transporting them to DCVI. If you would like to contribute a newsletter and/or donation you can email a PDF or Word document with what you would like included to kidsklub@town.stmarys.on.ca. We would appreciate submissions before Friday, October 9 to get the bundles together for DCVI’s commencement ceremony.
If you would like to be involved or have any questions, please email kidsklub@town.stmarys.on.ca.
