Masks mandatory at official grand re-opening

The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 236, is re-opening this Saturday, Aug. 1 and will hold a meat draw upstairs, starting at 5 p.m.
“It will be our official grand opening since Covid,” Legion past president Peter Bushfield told the Independent. “We shut down when everybody else was told to shut down in mid-March.”
Due to government regulations, only the first 50 people will be allowed in the hall Saturday. “If you’re coming, come early because we’re limited to 50 people,” Bushfield says. “After that, we have to turn people away.”
Legion president Tom Jenkins says face masks are mandatory for patrons and staff moving around the hall. Social distancing will also be encouraged.
“We’re abiding by the regulations (from the Huron-Perth Health Unit),” Jenkins says. “We’re only allowed 50 patrons, and we’re holding it upstairs which is much larger than downstairs so we can evenly space them out.”
