Mike Lynch named new president for 2020-21 season
Last Wednesday, the St. Marys Ringette Association held their Annual General Meeting.
This year’s meeting deviated from past AGMs as Covid-19 forced the executive to switch formats and have its members attend virtually. The decision resulted in one of the largest attended AGMs in recent years.
President Lisa Linton thanked her 2019-20 executive for all the contributions they have made to the SMRA and highlighted the many accomplishments of the past year. Linton then acknowledged each member of the current executive for their undeniable dedication to the association, to its players and ultimately to the sport.
The outgoing executive consisted of: President – Lisa Linton; Vice-President – Carrie McKichan; Treasurer – Erin Thomson; Registrar – Melanie Murphy; Coach/Player Development – Rebecca Myers; Ice Scheduler – Sarah DeVries; Director Parent Rep Coordinator – Andrea Martin; Director Fundraising – Cathy Hutton; Director Promotions – Christen Graham; Equipment Manager – Carol Venn; WRRL Representative – Kim Garniss; WORL/GLRL Representative – Chris McMichael; Referee-in-Chief Coordinator – Karen Shuker; Webmaster – Andrea Martin; Past President – Jason Brodhagen.
New executive elected
Linton, who didn’t seek re-election, turned the meeting over to Election Chair Peter Westelaken to begin the process of electing the new executive for the 2020-21 season. Congratulations to: President – Michael Lynch; Vice-President – Kim Garniss; Treasurer – Erin Thomson; Secretary – Brienna Lee Feeney; Registrar – Melanie Murphy; Coach/Player Development – Rebecca Myers; Ice Scheduler – Lori Black; Bond Coordinator/Webmaster – Andrea Martin; Director Fundraising – Cathy Hutton; Director Promotions – Rebecca Shearer; Equipment Manager – Burton Pickel; WRRL Representative – Christen Graham; WORL/GLRL Representative – Jason Brodhagen; Referee-in-Chief Coordinator – Karen Shuker; Past President – Lisa Linton.
Upon his acceptance of the President position, Lynch thanked outgoing President Linton and all the executive for their countless hours given to the Association and congratulated them on a job well done.
Moving forward, Lynch acknowledged the challenges ahead, specifically navigating the new normal of post Covid-19 and what the impact will be on the SMRA. “We know there will be unprecedented changes in the way we typically operate,” he said. “However, our entire organization, players, coaches, parents and executive are definitely up to the challenge. We are looking forward to the 2020-21 season.”
