At WOSSAA swim meet in London last week
LONDON – The DCVI Saluki swim team had a spectacular day at the 2020 WOSSAA meet here at the Canada Games Centre last Wednesday, Feb. 19. It is the first time in many years that all members of the Saluki team had an important role at the Western Ontario meet.
Congratulations to the Junior boys 200-metre Freestyle relay team — Jake Pfaff, Charlie Bertrand, Emmett Doupe and Alex Slade — for a strong ninth-place showing in a very competitive field. Additional congratulations to the DCVI girls relay team — Zoe Fadelle, Niamh Brennan, Victoria Jeffrey, Emily McCurdy and Abigail Marshal. The girls competed bravely in a very difficult category to a solid finish in the 200M medley relay.
The Saluki swim team is also celebrating an OFSAA qualification from Jake Pfaff. He finished fifth in the Junior boys 50-metre Freestyle event and qualifies for the upcoming OFSAA meet in Toronto. Pfaff shaved an amazing two seconds off his personal best time.
“It has been thrilling to have had such a strong group of new rookie swimmers on the swim team this year and it is very exciting for the future of Saluki swimming at DCVI,” coach Tina Hutton said. Hutton would also like to acknowledge the contributions of graduating swimmer Victoria Jeffrey for her final swim at WOSSAA. “Victoria has been an important member of the Saluki swim team during her time at DCVI and she will be greatly missed,” the coach said.
