Ottawa, ON – Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer announced last week that Perth—Wellington MP John Nater will serve as the Official Opposition’s Deputy House Leader. The 43rd Parliament of Canada is set to convene this week and M.P. Nater will be assuming his new role as part of the Official Opposition Leadership Team. M.P. Nater says “I am honoured to have been chosen to serve in this role as our caucus continues the work of holding this Minority Liberal government to account. I would like to thank Andrew Scheer for his confidence in me and for his support leading up to this decision.” “My colleagues and I are eager to return to the House of Commons. There are many issues on the minds of Canadians, and I will continue to advocate on behalf of our communities. Despite this new role and responsibility, my first priority will always be the people of Perth— Wellington.” Parliament will convene on December 5th to elect the Speaker of the House of Commons and hear the Government’s Speech from the Throne.
