Perth South recently learned that they were amongst the 94 recipients from across Canada to benefit from a grant program offered to rural communities by Farm Credit Canada (FCC) through their AgriSpirit Fund.
“The FCC AgriSpirit Fund is another opportunity for us to partner with community organizations that are building for today while keeping future generations in mind” said Sophie Perreault, FCC executive vice-president and chief operating officer. “I am extremely gratified that more than 80 per cent of the projects this year are energy-efficient or focused on waste reductions, so we are making big strides without leaving deep footprints.”
On Tuesday November 19, 2019, FCC representatives presented a $14,000 cheque to Perth South at the Township office in St. Pauls. The $14,000 received from the FCC AgriSpirit Fund will be used towards the purchase of new doors and increased insulation in the attic in order to improve the energy efficiency of the facility.
“The Downie Optimist Hall is a highly utilized facility in our community and investments such as this are essential to maintaining the asset for use by future generations,” said Mayor Robert Wilhelm. “Perth South is extremely grateful for this contribution from Farm Credit Canada.”
