Shops decked out in cedar and bows. A glittering parade headlined by the Big Man himself. Victorian carolers. Horse-drawn wagon rides. Lights, lights and more lights. Could St. Marys get any more Christmassy?
Yes! With the Front Porch Show Christmas Special, scheduled for December 8 at 6 to 7 p.m. outdoors at Cadzow Park.
“It’s a St. Marys tradition in the making,” says creator and host John Stevens. “This is the third year for the show, and the magic is growing. It’s the perfect bookend to a great season of community celebration.”
The Front Porch Show (FPS) has developed a loyal following, in person and on Facebook, for its summer Sunday evening shows, a unique combination of music, laughs and informational interviews. This year, FPS live-streamed the St. Marys Santa Claus Parade on Facebook, with a lively commentary provided by Peter Rice and Liane Gregory-Sterritt. Thousands joined in the fun online. Stevens credits the talented volunteer FPS cast and crew with creating an unforgettable experience for people unable to attend in person.
Now the Christmas Special beckons. Stevens isn’t giving away any secrets, but he promises that there will be lots of holiday music, including from the Droog family and FPS favorites Don Van Galen and Frank St. Germain. There are some very special guests on the program, too. The show is sponsored by the generous people at St. Marys Golf and Country Club.
