Over the past two months, Spencer Seymour and I at the St. Marys Independent have had the opportunity to work closely with St. Marys Radio and its founder, Evan Hurley. This has been an amazing experience for us, and we’ve been thrilled to bring St. Marys Lincolns hockey broadcasts to the airwaves, to bring daily news and sports updates to our listeners, and to provide listeners with a great mix of music to enjoy throughout the day.
Earlier this week, we completed a transaction whereby St. Marys Independent has formally purchased St. Marys Radio. This deal will benefit St. Marys Radio by providing greater resources to the station in terms of manpower, finances, and improved access to news and advertisements.
Tyler Carruthers, who is a regular point-person for those wishing to place ads in the Independent, will now also be an excellent point-of-contact for St. Marys Radio advertisements. Even smaller newspaper ads such as yard sales, upcoming events and help wanted will now have the opportunity to have their messages shared on the radio for a small incremental fee.
In terms of music, we are continually looking to upgrade our library with the latest hit songs, as well as showcasing our talented local artists. For example, this week we added the latest from Taylor Swift, Ellie Goulding, and Cage the Elephant, while locally we purchased music from Emm Gryner, Charlie Weber, Callie McCullough and Delaney Brooklyn.
