After years of hoping and waiting, the two new bus transportation services are set to roll out beginning in 2020 – but before that happens, input from residents is urgently needed.
Please visit www.townofstmarys.com/transportation to complete a brief survey that will help ensure the community transportation pilot program is built around the needs of those who will use it. Feedback from residents of all ages is needed but especially from teenagers in the 14-17 age range.
The project was first announced in 2018, after Perth County and the City of Stratford were awarded Community Transportation Grants to launch the intercommunity transportation pilot project, which looks to provide bus access throughout the region and connect to larger transportation hubs in surrounding cities. Funding for the pilot program comes from the Ministry of Transportation’s Community Transportation Grant Program – Municipal Stream.
Specifically, the Intercity Service will link Listowel with Kitchener-Waterloo; and Stratford and St. Marys with Kitchener-Waterloo and London, while the Perth County Service will link the rural areas of Atwood, Brunner, Gads Hill, Listowel, Millbank, Milverton, Mitchell, Monkton, Newton, Sebringville, St. Marys, and Stratford.
The survey will be open until Thanksgiving Day, October 14, 2019.
