Ontario president on hand
St. Marys lawn bowling is celebrating its 130th anniversary (1889-2019) this summer, and Ontario Lawn Bowls Association president Phillip Francis, of Leaside, was on hand Saturday to present a congratulatory plaque to the Parks Lawn Bowling Club. Accepting on behalf of the members was president Larry McLellan.
“Your club is now and has been an important fixture in the St. Marys community since 1889,” Francis said in his address. “The longevity and success of the club over the past 130 years is a result of the dedication of its members.”
The 130th anniversary celebrations were well attended by members of the local club. Anniversary cake was later enjoyed by everyone.
Note: The next tournament at the local greens is on Wednesday, Sept. 4, starting at 10 a.m. It’s an open pairs event, sponsor by Hubbard Pharmacy and Stonetown Travel.
