Megan and Sean Brode, managers of the 2019 St. Marys Farmers’ Market, reported to the Independent that they were very pleased with the market’s first week.
“Our opening market was excellent. Though we aren’t sure on exact attendance numbers, what we can say is that most of our vendors were sold out by 10:30!”
As regular market goers are aware, the number of vendors tend to increase as the season continues and more grown products become available.
“We will be expecting our number of vendors to double over the next weeks as crops come in, school ends, etc.,” said Megan. “We are expecting most of our vendors from last year to return as the season progresses.”
New vendors at the Farmers’ Market this year include (but are not limited to): Soulfood Catering (homemade frozen meals and perogies), Black Sombrero (Mexican chorizo, salsa, guacamole, and pepperettes), Switzer Apiaries (local honey and honey-based products), and Cape and Apron (100% allergen-free baking and treats).
To address some of the Frequently Asked Questions that they received during the first week:
– Rachel & Martha will have fry pies and donuts next week!
– Breakfast Shack will be back for another season
Megan and Sean reflected, “We are very excited about the upcoming season. We are working very hard to make it the best one yet!”
The Farmers’ Market is open every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon, starting last weekend and continuing through until Hallowe’en Weekend (October 26th). It is located in the Jones Street parking lot across from Canadian Tire.
