The Friends of the St. Marys Public Library (FOL) Spring Book Sale raised over $4,500 during their four day sale from May 8th-11th in the St Marys Town Hall Auditorium. According to Reg Quinton, FOL Book Sale Coordinator, “that will go a long way in our support of special events, programs, services and needs at the St. Marys Public Library.” The mission for the Friends of the St. Marys Public Library is to support the local library through fundraising, service and advocacy. In addition to fundraising through sponsorship for the FOL Newcomers Welcome Package, which provides newcomers with much needed information about businesses and services in our community, the FOL holds spring and fall book sales. All money raised supports enhancements to library collections, programs and services. The FOL also hosts a monthly Newcomers Coffee Meet ‘n Greet at the library, featuring special guests who speak on a topic of interest to newcomers.
On behalf of the FOL, Quinton offered “many thanks to all the volunteers who worked so very hard to make this sale such a success and especially to the community at large who donated items for the sale and then came back to take home treasures they discovered at the sale and made their generous donations in return. Your generosity is very much appreciated”
He also recognized the Town of St. Marys for their support and use of the auditorium, as well as Matt Corbett, our Library CEO, and Library Staff for their help and patience with the disruption.
Upcoming events for the FOL include a book sale and information booth at the Heritage Fair in July and the Fall Book Sale which will follow the St. Marys Community Players production of “The Fantastiks” later this year.
