One of the longest and most well known businesses in St. Marys is coming to an end. Dick and Joan MacPherson have confirmed that they have sold their M&M Building to Stratford business woman Tracey Pritchard. The MacPhersons’ had the original variety store where the MacPherson Arts and Crafts business is now, having bought the building from Bruce Murray. They ran the business there for 15 years before moving to the present location, replacing the Price Guard Drug Store operated by Mr. Kim and have operated there to the present time. Tracy Pritchard owns the “Perfect Pastry” company in Stratford and her daughter Alex runs “The Farm Juice Co”, also in Stratford and both companies are expected to move into their new building in St. Marys. There will also be available space for another retail business. Meanwhile, Dick, who will be 86 in May and Joan, who is 85, said that they enjoyed all the time they had at the variety store and will be moving across the street to their other building above “Jennies”. And a small piece of trivia supplied by Dick is the M&M name came from the first letters of Bruce Murray and Stu McLennan.
