The plot has thickened in the St. Marys Community Players production of the comedic murder mystery, The Game’s Afoot or Holmes for the Holidays, staged at the Town Hall Theatre last fall.
On Sunday, February 17, the Western Ontario Drama League (WODL) announced nominees and community theatre award recipients, with SMCP receiving nine nominations and two awards in a variety of categories in the WODL 2019 Festival.
SMCP’s production of Ken Ludwig’s The Game’s Afoot was adjudicated by Western Ontario Drama League during the run of the show and now, post-show, has learned the well-received murder mystery is no longer a whodunit but rather a joyous ‘we did it’!
“As President, I would like to congratulate all the nominees and special congratulations to Liane and Tania on their awards. I am so proud of the entire cast and crew. Great job everyone,” exclaimed SMCP President Paula Hoare.
The St. Marys Town Hall theatre has been home to SMCP shows for 45 years and The Game’s Afoot, directed by Tania Harvey, was the first show of the two-show season. The next production in their season is the musical, The Fantasticks, in the fall.
Show producer, Christin Bossenberry says, ”I am beyond thrilled at the WODL nominations that The Game’s Afoot has garnered, and to take home two awards is the icing on the cake. I could not be more proud of this amazing team of artists – what a great way to celebrate our 45th season!”
Several members of the show’s cast and crew will be attending the awards gala on Saturday, March 16 at Guelph hosted by Guelph Little Theatre.
