Local dairy farmer, St. Marys resident, and director with the Dairy Farmers of Ontario for Huron and Perth, Henry Wydeven spoke to the Rotary Club of St. Marys on Monday night, Feb. 11. Henry touched on a number of topics and how they relate to the dairy industry including Supply Management, CUSMA (Canada, US, Mexico Agreement), Brexit and the Canada Food Guide. In light of changes in these areas, he highlighted the fact that dairy farmers needed to be pro-active. From the Dairy Farmers of Canada website: “The Dairy Farmers of Canada and members initiated the development of proAction to show how farmers responsibly produce milk. With proAction, farmers offer proof to customers that they work to ensure milk quality and safety, and to continually improve animal health and welfare as well as environmental stewardship.”
