A total of 35 teams, including eight from the St. Marys Ringette Association, will compete in the 12th annual Snipers tournament this weekend, Dec. 7-9.
There will be three full days of ringette at the PRC, with games starting at 8 a.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The championship finals in each age division will be held Sunday afternoon.
Representing St. Marys ringette will be two U-8 Bunnies teams, the U-9 team, the U-12 Regional Petite team, the U-12 Provincial Petite team, the U-14 Regional team, the U-16 team, and the Open Ladies team.
There are three teams coming from the northern Ontario community of Walden (near Sudbury). They are entering U-10, U-12 and U-14 teams. Oshawa, Chatham, Burlington, London, Guelph, Goderich, St. Thomas, Kitchener, Cambridge, Waterloo and Valley East (Greater Sudbury) are some of the other centres sending teams to compete in the various divisions.
There will be a food booth in the community centre Friday and Saturday, featuring favourites such as hot soup, chili, and mac and cheese. There will also be vendors in the community centre on both Friday and Saturday.
Peter Westelaken is again the Snipers’ tourney convener. Admission is free.
