The St. Marys Midget-Junior girls are scheduled to play their first Huron-Perth Fastball League home game next Tuesday, May 22 against Milverton.
The team, which is again sponsored by Veterinary Purchasing Co. in St. Marys, will play a 22-game regular schedule. Their home games are Tuesday nights at Teddy’s Field, starting at 8:30 p.m. The team opens its regular schedule Monday, May 21 in Springfield against the Brewers after this week’s home game (May 15) against Sweaburg had to be postponed.
The 14-member Vet. Purchasing squad is once again coached by Rob and Kelly Wiffen. Candy McEwan is also a member of the coaching staff.
The 2018 St. Marys roster is as follows: Ashlyn Maxwell, Jensen Dundas, Marie Mossey, Bailey Wiffen, Natalie Reay, Hope Johns, Aimee King, Nathalie Bettger, Robyn Lewis, Lauren Cameron, Sam Truax, Kaitlyn Sleeper, Lindsay Hannaberry and Carly McEwan.
Doing the bulk of the pitching will be veterans Ashlyn Maxwell, Bailey Wiffen, Natalie Reay and Aimee King as well as newcomer Sam Truax.
The other 11 teams in the league are: Sweaburg, Springfield, Milverton, Cambridge, Byron, Ayr, Innerkip, Fullarton, Mitchell, Ingersoll and Wilmot (New Hamburg).
Note: St. Marys will also host the H-P League year-end playoff tournament on the Aug. 17-19 weekend.
