With two wins over Niagara-on-the-Lake last weekend, the St. Marys Golf & Country Club Atom BB’s are headed back to the OMHA Finals.
St. Marys 6, NOTL 0
After splitting the first two games of the series, St. Marys won game 3 with a convincing 6-0 victory on Saturday in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Griffin McGregor opened the scoring just over three minutes into the game, with the assist going to Evan Ballantyne. Colton Henderson broke the game open in the second period, netting a natural hat trick to put the Rock up 4-0. Jayden Tipping tallied twice in the final stanza. Cyler Pickering earned the shutout for St. Marys.
St. Marys 7, NOTL 2
On Sunday afternoon, the Rock’s well-balanced attack resulted in a 7-2 win over the Niagara-on-the-Lake to close out the OHMA semi-final series. The game sheet accurately reflected the depth of the G&CC Atoms with each line figuring in on the scoring. Goal scorers were Grayson Boreham (with two), Hayden Brintnell, Griffin McGregor, Oliver McHugh, Callum McIntosh, and Nate Schiedel.
The OMHA Finalist St. Marys Golf & Country Club Atoms are comprised of the following players (with sweater numbers in brackets): Cyler Pickering (#1), Adam Turner (#2), Hayden Brintnell (#3), Grayson Boreham (#4), Trevor Richardson (#5), Griffin McGregor (#7), Nate Schiedel (#8), Callum McIntosh (#9), Colton Henderson (#10), Jayden Tipping (#11), George Payne (#14), Evan Ballantyne (#17), and Julian Walsh (#30).
St. Marys will play either Midland or Napanee for the OMHA Atom BB championship. The Midland/Napanee series, currently tied at one win apiece, is scheduled to wrap up by Monday. Last season, Midland edged St. Marys 3-2 in their best-of-five championship series.
