Each year, the Thorndale community groups, organizations and an team of eager volunteers all pitch in for a great day of old fashioned fun in Thorndale on the fairgrounds and inside the community centre. This year is shaping up to be another great year! There is a wide array of indoor and outdoor activities that will surely suit one’s interest regardless of their age. From horse drawn sleigh rides to model trains, story-time, to free food & drinks and a whole lot more, there’s no shortage of fun to be had. Some of the new activities this year are an obstacle course, box hockey, on-site Thorndale t-shirt making and air brush tattoos. As well, this year we have the Thorndale BMO sponsoring free popcorn and McCutcheon Farm Drainage supporting visits from Olaf! The weather has been different every year, so organizers feel well prepared for whatever Mother Nature decides to serve up. Fresh snow would be great for the snowman building competitions though! One of the most exciting additions to the event is the Big Idea Pitch which will be taking place inside the community centre at 3:15. A panel of judges representing 6 community groups will be awarding a resident $600 to support the costs of implementing their innovative idea to serve the Thorndale community! Be sure to bring your family, friends and neighbours to Thorndale this Family Day from 1-4pm (outdoor activities finish at 3:00) for a wholesome day together and stick around to cast your vote for Thorndale’s next Big Idea! As always, the event is free (t-shirts are a fee however), but donations will be graciously accepted inside the community centre to help off-set event costs.
