Team also posts two road wins on weekend

St. Marys Golf and Country Club ‘BB’ Atoms got another balanced scoring attack in a 7-2 Shamrock League victory over Lucan Irish on Wednesday, Dec. 6 at the PRC.
Pacing the offence was forward Jayden Tipping, who clicked for two goals and two assists. Griffin McGregor added two goals and one assist, while the singles came off the sticks of Colton Henderson, Nate Schiedel and Oliver McHugh. George Payne was the playmaker, collecting three assists.
Cohen Smith and Will Matthews scored for Lucan.
Dan Schiedel’s squad built period leads of 1-0 and 3-0, and also played a penalty-free game. Julian Walsh earned the net win.
The victory kept the Rock (12-0-2) in first place in the SHL Group 1 standings, two points ahead of Mooretown Jr. Flags (11-3-2) and Lambeth Lancers (12-4-0). St. Marys is now 9-0-1 in its last 10 league games.
The G&CC Atoms also had two road games on the weekend, and won them both. They defeated North Middlesex Jr. Stars 5-1 in Parkhill Friday, and skated to a 7-2 triumph over Lambton Shores Predators Sunday in Forest. No scoring stats were available, but Cyler Pickering got the net win Friday, and Julian Walsh was between the pipes Sunday.
The Rock hits the road for Shamrock games on Friday (Lambeth) and Saturday (Petrolia) this weekend, then hosts Ilderton Jets (13-1-2) on Wednesday, Dec. 20 at 6:15 p.m. Jets are in top spot in the Group 2 standings.
After the Christmas break, Schiedel and company head to the Niagara area to compete in the annual Pelham Regional Silver Stick tournament, Dec.27-29. St. Marys plays Niagara Falls Flyers, Niagara-on-the-Lake Wolves and Welland Tigers in round-robin action the first two days.
