Shannan Sword, who has been the CEO of the Library since December 2013, is no longer an employee of the Library or the Town. The following was issued by Brent Kittmer, CAO of the Town last Friday. “Please be advised that Shannan Sword, CEO of the St. Marys Public Library is no longer employed with the St. Marys Public Library/Town of St Marys. The Library Board and the Town sincerely thank Shannan for her contributions to both the Library and the Town and wish her all the best in her future endeavours. Brent Kittmer, CAO/Clerk will step into the role of acting-interim CEO until the position can be filled on a permanent basis.
From a day to day basis, we do not expect the services at the Library to change. The staff we have there are excellent and have all stepped up during this initial period of transition to ensure there is no disruption for patrons. The Library Act specifies that it is the Board who is responsible for hiring and appointing a Library CEO. The Board will be meeting on March 20th as part of their regular meeting schedule, and I expect at that meeting they will be discussing the next steps and process related to the recruitment of a replacement. The recruitment process is overseen by the Board with assistance from the Town HR Manager”.
