Contamination “no threat”
Because of the construction work starting this week Tim Hortons customers must use Peel Street whether they are going in for a coffee or are going through the drive through. The entrance/exit on Queen Street will be closed to traffic and the only access will be on Peel Street. This will be for the next three weeks, until May 11.
Meanwhile, when the construction crew dug up the tanks recently, the Town checked for soil contamination through JFM Environmental. Jed Kelly, Director of Operations for the Town said that they believe “there is no threat” in what they found in the soil and construction work will continue as normal. In order to be sure, the Town advised the MOE of the situation and the Town is waiting for a final “go-ahead” from them.
