U-14 Snipers slay the Dragons

The Cascade and Optimist St. Marys U-14 Snipers had the Dorchester Dragons travel to the PRC on Saturday, Feb. 3.

The Dragons defeated the U-14 team previously and the Snipers were ready for a rematch. Very evenly matched, the two teams went back and forth with the ring, until Anaya Larmer grabbed a pass from Meg Richardson and found the back of the net.

Just moments later, Jillian Sterkenburg received a pass from Richardson and slid another one past the Dorchester goalie. Kaylee Fowler quickly added another, after taking a pass from Larmer to end the first half with a 3-0 lead.

Within a few minutes of the second half, Dragons were able to get the ring past St. Marys goalie Arielle Barber. However, Larmer quickly answered back, with an assist from Fowler.

The Dragons were’t going down without a fight and found the back of Barber’s net again. The Snipers were ready to redeem themselves though and Sterkenburg completed the scoring with another goal, with an assist going to Jessica Burlingham.

The victory went to the U-14s by a final score of 5-2.

The Snipers’ next game is in Forest on Saturday, Feb. 10 and have their next home game on Tuesday, Feb. 13, starting at 6:30 p.m.
