St. Marys-based songwriter and recording star Emm Gryner donated the proceeds from tickets sales from her recent concert at Town Hall to the local branch of the Salvation Army. The money, totaling $420, will help purchase Christmas toys and hampers for the charity to give out to 120 needy households in the community.

The Salvation Army is still accepting donations from the public for Christmas. Of particular need are gifts and clothing for teenaged boys and girls, as well as blankets, gifts, and comfort items for seniors.
Although the foodbank is currently doing well, donations tend to drop off after the holiday season. Representatives from the charity note that, though the holidays end, need in the community does not.
