What an amazing year for all the 4Hers in the Kirkton Dairy club! They should be so proud of themselves with all they have accomplished this year. Their major project this year was helping to fund and build a new pavilion at the Kirkton Community Centre. The club asked the Kirkton Woodham Optimist club to help with the project and with the community’s amazing financial support they were able raise over $65,000 and around $10,000 of inkind donations for the building. WOW! We are so fortunite to live in such a generous community! We will be having an open house in the spring when the project is completely done for all the generous sponsors.
For the clubs regular meetings they met around 6 times during the spring and summer. The kids were able to visit local dairy farms and learn about fitting and clipping of heifers, artifical insemintion, Embryo Transfer, calf health and judging of animals and life items. The kids particiapted in a mutiple of shows, Junior Show in Woodstock, East Gen in Stratford, Lucknow, Mitchell, Perth Championship Show and Western Ontario Champion show. In order for each 4H member to complete the club they also need to show at the clubs acheivement day, which is held during the Kirkton Fair in Sept.
As leaders we would like to congratulate every member in the club on a job well done this year!
