No Friday Game on Santa Claus Parade night
By Stewart Grant
Hockey teams generally discourage their players from “floating” during the game, but tonight is an exception where fans can look forward to spotting many Lincolns aboard the team float in the Santa Claus Parade.
Tonight’s Santa Claus Parade caps off a busy weekend for the club. Tomorrow, the team is off to Strathroy for a Saturday Night battle against the Rockets, while on Sunday they host the Leamington Flyers in a 2:30 p.m. matinee at the Pyramid Recreation Centre.
In losing a pair of close games last weekend (4-2 to Strathroy and 5-4 to St. Thomas), the Lincolns need to dig deep this weekend to improve their position in the GOJHL’s Western Conference Standings.
This Sunday’s home game against Leamington is an intriguing matchup. Although the first-place Flyers are well ahead of St. Marys in the standings, the Lincolns defeated them in Leamington by a 3-2 margin on October 26th.
St. Marys currently trails 8th place by Komoka by a single point with one game in hand, and are three points behind 7th place Strathroy with three games in hand. With 13 points through 20 games in the 2017/18 season, the Lincolns are actually one point higher than they were through the 20-game mark last season.
Mark your calendars for next week’s Lincolns game which is Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame Night, sponsored by St. Marys Landscaping. The CBHOF is having their annual silent auction, with items on display in the lobby during the game. The night will also feature in-game baseball trivia, an intermission game, and free baseball card giveaway.
