Tonight vs. Strathroy; Sunday at 2:00 p.m. vs. St. Thomas
By Stewart Grant
It’s a big weekend in town for the St. Marys Lincolns. Coming off of a big 7-2 win against Sarnia in their last home game on November 3rd, the Lincolns are hoping that this weekend’s games at the Pyramid Recreation Centre will provide lift to their team in the GOJHL’s Western Conference Standings.
Tonight’s game against the Strathroy Rockets, scheduled for 7:30 p.m., will begin following a pre-game ceremony in honour of Remembrance Day. Representatives from both the Canadian Legion and the Army, Navy and Air Force will be on hand in the form of a colour party as a minute of silence is observed. St. Marys trails Strathroy by just two points in the league standings but the Lincolns have three games in hand.
This Sunday, the Lincolns host the St. Thomas Stars in a matinee game set for 2:00 p.m. As opposed to prior seasons when Sunday games were at nighttime, Lincolns Executive decided to switch to afternoon games for the 2017/18 in order to make the games easier to attend for local youngsters. The theme for Sunday’s game is the Canadian Alzheimer’s Society as the Lincolns support them in their fund-raising and information distribution efforts. Third-place St. Thomas has edged St. Marys in two competitive games this season, by scores of 2-1 and 4-3.
