Two events that go hand in hand are happening on Saturday September 9th. It is of course the seventh annual “Evan’s Touch the Truck” and Ford’s “Drive 4UR Community”.
Evan’s Touch the Truck event will be held at Milt Dunnell Field (The Flats) and the “Drive 4UR Community” event will be held at the McLean Taylor site at the Water Street Bridge. These two events are great fundraisers for great causes and are worthy of support. The Touch the Truck event’s proceeds go to “Childcan” which benefits children with cancer. Since 1974, Childcan has provided responsive and compassionate support services for families living in Southwestern Ontario and facing the challenging journey through childhood cancer – from diagnosis, through treatment, to recovery or bereavement. One of Childcan’s goals is to relieve families of everyday financial burdens to allow them to focus on their child’s care and treatment.
The event will include machines and vehicles of all shapes and sizes, kids’ activities, a BBQ, raffle, draws, and so much more and starts at 10 am.
The “Drive 4UR Community” goes from 9 AM to 4 PM and the proceeds will be split between Little Falls Outdoor Education Program and Hope for Haiti. This year might be more important because of the hurricane hitting Haiti this week. This event is free and consists of the opportunity to have a valid test drive and the Ford Motor Company in combination with St. Marys Ford, will donate $20 per valid test drive up to a total amount of $6,000. A “valid” test drive means you have to be old enough to drive and have a driver’s licence which has to be produced before you drive.
