Lincolns BBQ this Saturday hosted by Independent Grocer

Your Independent Grocer will be hosting the annual Lincolns fundraising barbeque this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. This is great chance for fans to meet this year’s Lincoln players, enjoy a barbeque lunch, and purchase their season tickets for the 2017/18 year.

Lincolns Sign Dalton Smith, re-sign   Brody Smith

Director of Hockey Operations / GM Glen Childerley reported that the Lincolns agreed to terms with the Kitchener Dutchmen to bring Dalton Smith to St. Marys for the upcoming season. Smith is a local player, having played minor hockey in his hometown of Stratford and later with the Huron-Perth Lakers AAA Midget team.

Prior to joining the Dutchmen in a trade from the Stratford Warriors last season, Dalton put up 24 points in 28 games with the New Hamburg Firebirds Junior C club.

“The Lincs are looking for a big season for Dalton,” said Childerley.

In other news, 19-year-old right winger Brody Smith resigned with the Lincolns for a third season. Last year, Brody finished third in team scoring with 37 points in 49 games. Brody is looking forward to his best-ever season with St. Marys.

Learn about volunteer opportunities on August 19th at PRC

Game Day Operations Coordinator Bill Lowe has booked a time of 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 17th as a chance to do a run-through/demonstration of various game night activities. It’s an opportunity for Lincoln volunteers to meet each other prior to the season, to learn about the various roles, and to ensure that everything runs as smoothly as possible during the upcoming season’s home games.

“We want to make each game day special for the fans, a great experience,” said Lowe. “We encourage anyone interested in helping out to attend on August 17th. We’re hoping for a large group of volunteers this season so that it isn’t too onerous on any particular people. If you’d like to help out once or twice a month, come on out on the 17th or get in touch with me with questions.”

There are a variety of ways that volunteers can help out at Lincoln games and be part of our community team. The myriad of roles include the following:

– handle the entry gate and welcome fans

– sell team merchandise

– provide security at entry points

– set up signage and tables

– sell 50/50 tickets

– set-up on ice for special events

– manage Lincolns music needs

– oversee the Blueline Club operation

– handle Club video needs

If interested in joining the list of Lincoln volunteers, please contact Bill Lowe at 226-661-0131 or email
