It was a bitter-sweet day for Canadian Tire last Saturday. Their JumpStart fundraiser at the Quarry was a great success with $500 being raised. The Jump Start program is run by Canadian Tire and the proceeds go to help children in the community by helping purchase sports equipment etc., for those who otherwise might not afford it. The Polar Dip at the Quarry was well attended and raised $500 for the cause (see photos on page 17). However, when the event was going on at the Quarry, someone stole a blue Kayak from outside the store. This theft was done in broad daylight and happened while the senior staff were helping out at the Quarry. The Pelican Vanquish 12 foot Kayak is blue and was taken by the thief cutting the lock and stealing it. If you happen to see such a Kayak you are encouraged to report it to the OPP.
