The Kirkton Woodham Optimist Club hosted their annual spelling bee on Wednesday April 12th at the Kirkton Woodham Community Centre. The three local schools (South Perth Centennial School, Precious Blood Catholic School and Exeter Public School) participated in the event by sending eight students in total from grade 5 to represent the top spellers in that year. It took eight rounds to determine the winner, who was Anna Ropp from South Perth Centennial School. Second place went to Liam Swarthout and in third place was Leah Cookson, both also from South Perth Centennial. The top two spellers from that competition will potentially represent the region at the District Spelling Bee that is hosted by the St Paul’s Optimist Club on Saturday April 22nd. Congratulations to all of the contestants who competed at the spelling bee.
