“Customs House” opens April 1st

By Stewart Grant

Over the past year, the heritage customs and old post office building at 17 Water Street South has seen extensive restorations and improvements under the ownership of Robby Smink. Beginning April 1st, the transformation of the property will continue with a brand new restaurant and bar opening up in the space most recently occupied by Celebr8 Salooon.

Steven Wray of nearby Motherwell is the new owner and operator of “Customs House” and promises a warm, welcoming atmosphere to go with great food and live music.

Per Wray, Customs House will address a need in the community by providing expanded hours for both the bar and the kitchen. The kitchen will be in continuous operation from 11 AM right up until midnight, with a brand new menu to be offered. The pub will be open until 2 AM on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

This Saturday’s grand opening will feature live music, with Phil Ruthig among those confirmed to perform.
