Lincolns’ Moskal, coaching staff win GOJHL awards

By Spencer Seymour

On Monday, the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League announced the winners of their yearly awards, and the Lincolns took their fair share of hardware. Scott Thompson, Mark Bell, Doug Groenestege, and Rick O’Donnell took home the Petes Sports Coaching Staff of the Year award after their solid and improved year with the Lincolns. The team’s 20 wins this season, good for a 6th place finish in the Western Conference, was as many wins as the Lincolns achieved in each of the prior three seasons combined. Billy Moskal was also honoured by the league as he was given the Roy Bruhlman Memorial Award as the Rookie of the Year in the Western conference. In 41 games with the Lincs this year, the 2016 second-round pick of the London Knights recorded 23 goals and 52 points and was one of the key contributors for the group all season. A big congratulations goes to Scott, Doug, Mark, Rick and Billy for their well-deserved awards, and to the rest of team for their successful regular season.
