The regular monthly meeting of Browns Women’s Institute was held at Browns School on February 21. President Liz Harrison led the business which consisted of discussion on the 120th anniversary of FWIO, the April 8th Euchre Luncheon, The Garden Party for a Cause on May 7th, the Spring Board Meeting on March 7th and the Canada 150 Book of Stories.
The roll call was answered with the name of your favourite members of the Royal Family. Each member was asked to bring a piece of royal memorabilia or a story.
Dianne Greason gave an interesting talk on the Royal Family. She included information on the royal weddings, the homes, schedules and family members. She had samples of letters which she had received from the ladies in waiting. Dianne was thanked for her presentation.
A presentation was made by the Browns Women’s Institute to Constable Lisa Narancsik of the Oxford County OPP. Books and bears were donated to be given to traumatized children. These will be replaced as used.
The March meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 21st at 1:00 p.m. with guests from Brooksdale W.I., Lakeside W.I., Union Church and Browns Church. Dessert will be served at 1:00 followed by a speaker from the Canadian Mental Health Association. Everyone is welcome.
Winners at the February 9th euchre were as follows: Ladies’ High – Carol McLeod; Ladies’ Lone Hands – Doris Champion; Ladies’ Lucky Prize – Ruth Nixon; Ladies’ Door Prize – Jean Robinson; Men’s High – Terry Barber; Men’s Lucky Prize – David Arthur; Men’s Door Prize – Reg Harris. The next euchre is March 2 at 7:00 p.m. All are welcome.
