The OPP say they had “an amazing response” last Saturday with the Food Drive and they are hoping for a similar response this Saturday for the Toy Drive. Last Saturday 18 shopping carts full of food were collected filling three cruisers. “The Perth County OPP Auxiliary Unit wishes to thank the community for their generosity which was truly overwhelming.” This Saturday December 10, 2016, Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers are once again teaming up with the Salvation Army in St.Marys to help make Christmas extra special for needy children this year. In St.Marys; OPP officers will have their cruisers set up in front of the St.Marys Canadian Tire Store on Saturday December 10, 2016 from 9:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. They will be collecting new unwrapped toys or sports equipment for kids from less fortunate families. The local Salvation Army in St.Marys will ensure that these toys are distributed to the needy families within their communities. In previous years these toy drives have shown the generosity of our communities. These drives have been very successful, and the local Salvation Army chapters are relying on this event to place something special under the tree for children on Christmas morning. We all know that the need is great, “Let’s Stuff Those Cruisers”.
