Senior’s apartments planned for Arthur Meighen site

PAC meeting at the PRC

The owners of the Arthur Meighen site, 1934711 Ontario Inc. have submitted an application to the Town to ask for an Official Plan Amendment and a Zoning By-Law Amendment for the property. The plan is to have a five storey building which will have 84 senior’s apartments and 115 assisted living units for a total of 199 units. The 84 senior’s apartments will have kitchens while the other units will include kitchenettes with an accompanying meal plan. The company says that residents will share on-site amenities including both social and wellness facilities. They also say that the project will include an outdoor patio overlooking Water Street and residents gardens along the north and south property lines. Indoor parking is in the plans for the residents while outdoor parking will be for visitors. The Planning Advisory Committee will discuss the proposal for the first time this coming Monday, Nov. 7th at 6.30 pm. The meeting which originally had been scheduled for the MOC on James Street South has been changed to the Pyramid Recreation Centre (PRC) in anticipation for a large attendance.
