The Thorndale Fair runs this weekend from Sept. 23 – 25 at the fairground in Thorndale. Locals will already be aware of the fair’s arrival thanks to the banner stretching across the main thoroughfare in Thorndale, and the programs that have been mailed out to surrounding residents.
The fair opens at 5:00 pm this evening, with the midway opening at 6:00 pm. The opening ceremonies and awards for the competitions start at 7:00 pm. One spectacle not to be missed is the pie auction.
The Thorndale Farmers Market will be open on Saturday from 8:00 am until 10:00 am in their usual location, and close down in time for the parade that starts at 11:00 am.
For the kids, in addition to the midway there will be face painting, balloon creations, pony and wagon rides, magic shows, kids games and a sing along, to name just a few events.
Within the Wye Creek subdivision of Thorndale there has been plenty of boasting and friendly competition surrounding the Homecraft contest, with the consensus being “winners bake and losers buy the wine” for a post-fair gathering.
On Sunday, the Lion’s Classic Car show is at 10:00 am, the Libro Tractor Obstacle Course (for kids) gets underway at 1:00 pm, the Antique Tractor Parade starts at 2:00 pm and the Demolition Derby is set to go at 3:00 pm. Those are just a few of the events scheduled to entertain young and old alike.
