The St. Marys Landscaping Atom Girls have advanced to the OWHA 2016 Provincial Championships, which take place April 7-10 in the GTA.

Two local teams have advanced to the OMHA finals. The Finnbilt Novice BB team topped their OMHA semi-final opponents from Erin-Hillsburgh, winning three in their best-of-five series. The decisive game took place in Erin March 6, with St. Marys winning 2-1. Game 1 of the finals for the novices is set for tonight at 7:00 pm in St Marys.

Last Wednesday, the Independent Grocer Atom BB’s completed a clean sweep of Lincoln, earning a 3-2 victory in overtime. RJ Martin scored twice for the Atom BB’s, while the overtime winner was scored by assistant captain Rourke McEwan. Goalie Kiefer McNiel got the start in goal and earned the win. This weekend, they will begin the OMHA Finals on home ice. Game One will be played in St. Marys tomorrow (Saturday) at 3:00 pm. They will go to Collingwood on Sunday for Game Two at 3:50 pm. St. Marys Minor Hockey’s Novice Local League tournament is set to go once again this year. Taking place at the PRC Friday, March 18 on both rinks, the tournament includes a number of local teams, as well as teams from Mitchell, Belmont, Tavistock, and Dorchester.

The annual St Marys Minor Hockey Wing Night, set for March 24, is approaching quickly. Tickets are $20 in advance and are available at Dunny’s Source for Sports, McPhails Pet Store, or St. Marys Golf and Country Club. Take out orders are available from 5:30 pm-6:30 pm by advance ticket only. For those eating in, tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door, with wings served from 7:00 pm-9:00 pm. The evening includes draw prizes.
